Phil's Political Rants

Why is it that so many Conservatives can tell both sides of the political story and most Liberals can only rant about Bush? Why is it that Liberals can't see this is happening? Nobody, even Liberal supporters of Kerry can give convincing examples of Kerry being a powerful leader in the senate, his claims of "leading the fight" have been thoroughly debunked. In 20 years as a senator, he managed to get a whopping 11 bills signed into law, of which - one was to save the dolphins, one was to name a federal building, and one to give resident status to someone. In 20 years as a Senator, Kerry has failed to produce anything presidential. His entire campaign is based on
1) an altruistic plan that is pure armchair quarterbacking and 2) say Bush did stuff wrong and I can do better.
.
Most Liberals I talk to boil down to voting for Kerry to vote against Bush - nothing else matters about Kerry not his character, not his track record, not his abilities.

I'm tired of liberals not willing to consider that Kerry has as many bad attributes as they assign to Bush. I'm sick of hearing that Bush lied or made a mistake by believing intelligence on WMD's when Kerry and both Clintons believed the same intelligence and voted to support Bush based on the same intelligence. I'm sick of hearing that Bush made a mistake in Iraq and isn't willing to admit it - what should we do - just leave? I'm sick of hearing that Bush doesn't have a plan to get us out of Iraq, he's explained it many times (it's to get the Iraqi's trained to take over for themselves by the way). I'm sick of hearing numbers bandied about over the war, the money we've spent is on par with similar battles/wars, the deaths are lower than anyone could possibly have imagined, the timelines are amazingly short.

I'm sick of hearing that we didn't need to take Saddam out or that there was no terrorist activity there. Saddam not only advocated and financed terrorism openly, he also has used WMD's in the past, dodged inspectors and UN sanctions for 12 years, openly threatened and called for the abolition of America, and without a doubt would have jumped at any opportunity to attack Americans. If we had suddenly been attacked by Saddam and afterward, people saw the intelligence that Bush had on Iraq, they would have called for Bush's impeachment for ignoring an obvious threat to America, look at what happened over supposed intelligence for 9/11. I'm sick of hearing about job losses, overseas outsourcing and deficit spending. Bush was handed a recession, was handed the Enron scandal, was handed the .com bust, and was handed 9/11 all within 10 months of coming to office - he was still putting together his cabinet for crying out loud. Now it's supposed to be his fault that we are only 90% recovered from all that.

I'm tired of hearing spin on tax cuts, we were given a tax cut across the board to increase economic growth, and it worked. I'm tired of hearing tax the rich out of one side of the mouth and create more jobs out the other - how does it equate that the rich will give us more jobs if we increase their taxes? Most of all, I'm tired of hearing Kerry say he has a plan. Anyone can write a plan, it's acting on that plan that is difficult, and Kerry hasn't shown that he will be able to enact much of his plan.

I'm tired of hearing all the bashing of President Bush. Liberals refuse to give him any credit, their hypocrisy is amazing, just look at these comparisons of Bush and Clinton, the Liberal's Superman.

"One observation on why Dems/Libs get characterized as anti-American - they tend to differ with Republicans on foreign policy issues, whereas when Republicans disgree with Dems it's on domestic policy issues. Hence the left walks a fine line when protesting foreign policy, since it is far easier to slip into supporting the enemy when legitimately protesting a foreign policy action than it is for Republicans when protesting domestic policy.
