Finally! Longhorn/Vista Installed on Virtual PC

This has been pretty frustrating for me. I has installed Longhorn a month or so ago on a laptop and later blew it away as I needed the laptop and didn’t have time to play with Vista at that point. For the last couple days, I’ve been trying to install it in both Virtual PC and as the main OS on one of my laptops. The installation was always dying when it got the to ‘select disk to install’ screen. It kept telling me that the disk I wanted to install to was invalid. Yesterday, Aaron and I were talking and he had seen the same problem and started researching it. He tried some of the things I had done before he figured out the solution. He has posted the fix for it here. After following his directions for the fix, I was finally able to get it to install. I let it run through the night (did this at 2 am) and it was finished installing when I got up this morning.

Now I can finally start playing with it again! The only beta I’ve got is the beta 1 release 5 bucks to anyone who can point me to an .iso of the 5219 CTP build ;)

Hehe, I’m glad you got it up and running. Vista is awesome – I’m so looking forward to playing with it more and learning more about how it works under the covers.
