Read this article! Here’s a summary of key points that mirror one of our major strategic initiatives:
content aggregation, local search, and user-generated content technology
developing additional verticals within Open List that can be used to enhance the Marchex network
can be offered to third-party publisher partners, as well
content sites, with navigation, user reviews and other content beyond advertising
private-label contextual advertising platform
facilitates the creation of user-generated content
licenses its vertical search functionality
And here are matching parts of our overall strategy, which has been in development for 7 months and is nearly ready for launch:
Content acquisition (we have an entire team on this), Local Search (our PlugNSearch technology allows this), User Generated Content (we are finishing the social/user generated content plugins for our Knowledge Manager system)
Identifiying vertical markets where we can acquire or generate unique content (not just crawling public stuff)
Offering PlugNSearch to 3rd parties - anyone can add our content search engine to their site, we can also crawl their site and add their data to our database list - offering them the ability to do a very advanced local search)
The Knowledge Manager allows us to create unlimited content sites, out of the box, with a centralized management system and code base. Unlike most content management systems, it is focused on being search centric and then content management centric, allowing powerful search and knowledge management. The social plugins that will be available by default allow for user comments, rating and tagging.
By combining our Search Labs technology, the Knowledge Manager and PlugNSearch, we are also building a private label context sensitive advertisement system that will combine ad networks (YPN, AdSense, etc), affiliate ads, video ads and in house ads (ads for our products). In addition to that, our ad system learns which ads perform best and shows them more frequenty, on an article basis.
all of our sites will allow users to add to all of our articles, and even submit their own articles. We are also working on a system to allow them to easily blog any of our articles.
Every database we have will be available to other sites, we are working on a pipeline that will produce new databases every day.
Well, now I’ve got to sit down and come up with something else to add to our overall strategy so we stay ahead of MarchEx. Oh wait, we have the TagJungle, TheDailySpike and HotBlogTopics strategies coming up and we’re about to launch several niche blog networks as well. There’s more to our top level strategy, but that’s probably enough for now
