Regular readers know that I’m very interested in seeing Utah receive the recognition it deserves within the web 2.0 world, which I really think will happen in the next year or so. So, when I read that Josh Coates, owner of Mozy.com, beat out all the other online backup firms to close a deal GE for $10 million I got pretty happy.
Here’s the Salt Lake Tribune article on it (thanks to Matthew Reinbold for pointing to it)
Probably the coolest thing about it is the write-up on TechCrunch which ensures that Silicon Valley heard about the deal.
You can hear more about Mozy from Josh on the UtahTechSpotlight podcast from last month, or on this one from Rocky Mountain Voices (PodTech)
I neglected to blog about this when I heard about it yesterday, thanks to Jason Alba for reminding me about it, on that lame, useless, waste of time thing called Twitter!
Congrats Josh! (hey, you wanna invest some of that over here? )
