Scoble finds out Verizon AirCards are faster than Cingular

Scoble says he did some speed comparisons with his Cingular AirCard vs. Verizon and Verizon won out. This is great news for me since I’m already using the Verizon model. His commenters are saying that Sprint’s EVDO card has better coverage – I haven’t found somewhere without coverage yet but that’s good to know.

I must say I LOVE my AirCard – I think it’s the best gadget I have aside from my Treo 700 (which is working fabulously now). My AirCard has changed my life – I know longer wonder whether there is wireless available at my current location, I just connect. It had dramatically improved my productivity! In fact, it’s fast and reliable enough that on this trip I didn’t even bother connecting to the free wireless at my hotel, I just kept the aircard connected. For $60 bucks a month it’s incredible!

I love my aircard too. I live in a rural area where the only other option for high speed internet is satellite. We bought an aircard through Alltel, and we’re very happy. Our previous dial-up service was 24 kbps, but this new Alltel card has been getting 1mbs at its best.
