Yahoo Mindset

Over at TechCrunch, Michael has written a great review of the new Yahoo Shoposphere which launches today. Among several other things, it lets you build lists of products and create an RSS feed to them. He talks about that Yahoo is planning on doing revenue sharing with list creators. I played with it for a while and made a list of my own – its url is here. I must be blind though, I couldn’t find an RSS feed for it anywhere. (let me know if you can find it)

Pretty cool, but that’s not really what got me excited from his review. At the end of his review, he talks about Yahoo Mindset in a quick blurb. Mindset is advertised as ‘Intent Driven Search’. What’s cool about it? Well, it’s that it’s an awesome step forward in search technology. When you search (I searched on computer systems) there is a slider at the top of the search results. It starts out neutral and you can slide it from shopping to research depending on what you want to see. The results resort themselves based on what you have selected. Now, choosing between shopping and researching isn’t really that cool, but I’m seeing this as the tagged web. What if those results created an aggregated list of tags and you were able to slide the tags to an order of what was important to you and also move the slider to where you wanted focus? It seems that they are building this to be able to take advantage of something like that – if they’re not, my bet is that someone will!

UPDATE: I found the RSS feed – by clicking on the link I posted here. Unless I missed it, it seems that you can’t get the rss link while you’re signed into the list, only when signed out of it. Here’s the rss feed.
