Iris Recog methodology was patented by some folks in New Jersey and they basically made it too expensive for anyone to develop tech base on Iris Recog. Well, that patent is expired in the US now and will expire in the rest of the world next year. All of which means there is very likely to be an explosion in Iris Recog tech and Research.
