Hey Scoble! Use your Facebook Badge man!

Facebook let’s you create a badge for your site really easily – but they make it kind of hard to find!

I stumbled on it yesterday morning while I was working on a Facebook app and it led to me re-working my whole blog. Scoble pimps Facebook more than he pimps Patrick’s iPhone and I’m thinking he must not have seen the badges there because he doesn’t have one on his site. Yes Robert, Facebook is awesome and let’s you gather a ton of your info into one place, but it also will let you take a little bit of it out and host it on your blog.

If you haven’t seen one yet – I’ve got a Facebook badge right here on my blog.

Here’s how to find it on Facebook and get one:

Go to your Profile page in Facebook, scroll ALL the way to the bottom. On the left side there are two links, “Profile Layout” and “Create a Profile Badge”. Click “Create a Profile Badge”.

From there it’s pretty self-explanatory. You can create a Photo, Signature or Blog Badge from their templates, or you can just roll your own. They only let you choose a few options, but they include your status, pics, events, posts and notes. Once you’re laid it out, it gives you a piece of JavaScript to paste into your blog. That’s it – now you (and Scoble) can share some of your Facebook data with those who aren’t in your network.
