Fight Club

Last night Adria and I drove to Fiddlers Elbow in Sugarhouse to attend Fight Club, we live in Mapleton so it’s about a 60 mile drive. We brought 9 month old Serenity with us and had our teenage daughter babysit the 6 other kids (yeah, that’s 8 kids in all). Anyway, we got there and headed in – and got kicked out! The girl at the door stopped us and said ‘You have to be 21 to come in here’. I just looked at her incredulously and said ‘Yeah, we’re WAY over 21′. She looked at Serenity and said ‘but she’s not’. I thought I would be funny so I said ‘She doesn’t drink’. The girl got a bit upset. She said we couldn’t bring a baby in, that you had to be 21 to come in. This is a totally new concept to me – granted it’s a sports bar/restaraunt, but it seemed to me it is a lot more restaraunt than it is bar. Anyway, she insisted we couldn’t go in and so Adria took Serenity out to the car while I went in and chatted for a minute. Then we called Laura Moncur to see if she and Mike wanted to grab a bite, Mike was asleep after dental work. So, we just drove around a bit, ate at Jason’s Deli and headed home.

Note to Jeff Barson – don’t have Fight Club at Fiddlers Elbow anymore, Please. :)

If you don’t like the liquor laws, vote Democrat…

Actually this is the first time in a very long time I’ve had a run-in with the Utah liquour laws. In thinking about it, it makes sense too – people getting drunk probably SHOULDN’T have a baby with them. There are some Democrats I could vote for – I don’t vote by party.

I asked Jeff if we could go somewhere else besides Fiddlers Elbow, but never heard back. The food’s not that good, so maybe his has a vested interest in its success.

Phil, you have my respect. I thought I was doing well with 5. There a number of restaurants just off 215 and State. That would make it easy for anyone who takes 215 or I-15. (Red Robbin, Red Lobster, and a couple right around the Mall). BTW I have lived in several different states – R and D and all of them had quirky liquor laws. – When was the last time you were in a dry county?
