The Utah Bloggers Conference is now the Utah New Media Conference, Oct 18th

After the iPhone release date killed the most recent attempt at the Utah Bloggers Conference, and just after the WordMob Street Team finished putting on the Seth Godin event, most of the Street Team and a few others came together to re-think the Utah Bloggers Conference. 

We settled on a distributed management approach – effectively taking the pressure off of me to be responsible for organizing and putting it on (I’ve been way too busy lately to be able to dedicate the time needed to this) and coming up with a new format and approach to the Bloggers Conference.  Because we wanted the presentations to be about more than just blogging, we changed the name to the Utah New Media Conference.  We also decided to do quarterly educational presentations on a specific New Media topic with an annual event that would be a longer form and offer multiple tracts. 

In order to have a broad reach for the initial event, the first UNMC will cover blogging, vidcasting, social media and monetizating your blog.  Future quarterly UNMC events will each focus on one of these topics for a deep dive that will cover a wide spectrum.  Towards the end of next year, we plan to have a multi-day conference that covers the spectrum of these and other topics.  

I’m really excited about this new format and we have some top notch presenters lined up!  The first Utah New Media Conference Event is on Oct 18th, 2007 at the Miller Innovation Center.  This and all of the quarterly events are free to attend, sponsors are covering all costs – October’s event is sponsored by 12 Horses – they are doing an amazing job of supporting community events around Utah! 

Fortunately for me, thanks to the new distributed management format, I haven’t had to do anything with the organization of this quarters event - huge kudos to those volunteered to make this happen!  The web site is still being completed, but a list of all the team members is available on the site.
